El arco el\u00e9ctrico no es un fen\u00f3meno nuevo. La preocupaci\u00f3n se debe en gran medida a las nuevas pautas y est\u00e1ndares establecidos por IEEE Std 1584-2018 (Instituto de ingenieros el\u00e9ctricos y electr\u00f3nicos), NFPA (Asociaci\u00f3n nacional de protecci\u00f3n contra incendios) y NEC (C\u00f3digo el\u00e9ctrico nacional). Las fallas de arco ocurren cuando la corriente pasa a trav\u00e9s del vapor entre dos materiales conductores.
